Match report
for Sunday 29th July 2007
Aldershot Ladies 1st XI v Alton Ladies
Match tied.
An enthralling local derby between the Shots and Alton ended in a tense
tie, with the result being determined by the last over of the match.
Winning the toss, Aldershot opted to field first on a difficult batting
surface, and were rewarded with an early wicket. T. Taylor and H.
Kemp then put on a 60 run partnership to steady Alton’s innings before debutante,
Chrissy Matthews, took an impressive catch to secure the second wicket of
the innings. Jo Harfield (2-12) and Loretta De Silva (2-13) were the
pick of the bowlers, well supported by a tidy all-round fielding performance,
including catches for Hannah Burgin and Lisa Franklin, restricting Alton
to 108-6.
An eager Aldershot side started their innings well with a healthy run
rate; however, wickets fell with regularity on the challenging surface.
The Shots persevered against some enthusiastic fielding with the tail
batting well under the mounting pressure. With four balls left of
the match, Alton’s most successful bowler, A Chapman (5-21), sent Chrissy
Matthews (bat 10) out, leaving three runs required off the four balls.
Walking on to face the bowler, Charlie Austin played a defensive shot and
ran, the pressure showed and Alton fumbled the ball bringing Shots to 108.
Requiring one run to win off the last three balls, Lisa Franklin blocked
one ball, then, stepping out of her crease to attack on the second to last
ball, she was stumped, leaving the match tied with one ball left in the innings.
Aldershot would like to thank Malcolm Turner, our umpire, and Danny
Anslow, our scorer.
The next match is this Sunday (5th) away against West Meon.

out for 114 off the last ball of the innings. Vice captain, Loretta
De Silva, batted diligently and was rewarded with her first half century

After a disappointing loss against Burridge three weeks ago, Shots
resumed their winning form. Opting to bat first, a determined Aldershot

Match report for Sunday 17th June 2007
Burridge Ladies v Aldershot Ladies 1st XI
Burridge won by 94 runs
Hampshire Ladies League champions, Aldershot, had their unbeaten
record broken by a much improved Burridge. Winning the toss, a depleted
Aldershot side opted to field first. The team of nine, led by skipper
Cath Dockley, put in a courageous performance, with debutante, Kirsty-Ann
Bush, taking a magnificent catch to dismiss number three bat, Rood.
Burgin, Dockley and Dolbear each took three wickets. Bowling in the
league for the first time, Cath Dockley (capt.) got her vaginal wicket, with
figures of 3-25 off 6 overs. Burridge’s opening batsman, Denise Phillips
(capt.), gallantly endured the Aldershot bowling attack, staying in for the
full 35 overs ending on 32 not out and helping Burridge to a total of 135-9.

Match report
for Sunday 3rd June 2007
Defending Hampshire League champions, Aldershot, defended their
one hundred per cent winning record with a comprehensive 117 run win
at the picturesque ground of St Cross, near Winchester. Batting
first, Aldershot thundered along to 109 for 1 off the first 13 overs.
This was due to the ability of 15 year old Janet Chambers and team mate
Loretta De Silva consistently finding the boundary. The partnership
produced 104 runs, with Janet making her first 50 and Loretta contributing
43. On their demise, the scoring rate slowed as subsequent bats
failed to middle the ball. Even so, the final score of 199 came from
only 30 overs and was Aldershot’s highest total ever in the league.
St Cross’s reply centered around one player, Sue Humphreys,
who was mainly kept quiet by consistently straight bowling and a really
intense fielding performance, achieving a total of 33 runs. Most
pleasing, the fielding was outstanding, lead by Lisa Franklin’s tremendous
diving and sliding show, off set by Charlie Austin’s village idiot moment
which lightened the mood. Eventually, St Cross crawled to 82 for
9 in their 35 overs. Pick of the bowlers was Hannah Burgin with
4 wickets for 12.
Aldershot would like to thank Malcolm Turner, our umpire, and
Danny Anslow, our scorer.
The next match is in two weeks time away to Burridge.
New ladies players are welcome to attend practice on Monday
nights, 6.30 at Aldershot Cricket Club, Guildford Road, Aldershot.

The section is made up of a few experienced players but mostly
beginners between 17 and 45ish together with younger girls who have
come through the Club's girls section. So anybody who hasn't played before
but would like to try their hand at cricket would be in good company.
The Hampshire League is being extended by two teams this year
so there will be 7 in total making 12 games for each side with most
matches on Sundays. This Winter past the Club has been competing
in the Hampshire Indoor League, not with the same success but they have
acquitted themselves well.
At the moment the indoor sessions combine fitness and training
for the better players and coaching and practice for the less experienced
and beginners, so all comers are catered for. These sessions take place
at the All Hallows school 7.30pm -9.00pm on Wednesdays, the next one
being after the Easter break on the 18th April. From May onwards training
will be outdoors at the lovely Aldershot CC ground on Monday evenings.
